(Edwin McCain at Starr Hill - 11/09/06)If you have seen the Edwin McCain trio perform before in Charlottesville, you probably expected a different show than what you got last night. While musically Edwin and the boys did a good job, Edwin was not his usual bubbly, funny, story-telling self that I had been looking forward to all week. Sure, he told a couple of stories and played the two songs that everyone knows, but having seen the trio before, I just expected more. He even neglected to play the 'single' from his new album which is being pushed at radio. (It's a great song, by the way.) While some may say that is cool, I say why not play a song which is really good and may get your album sales up. Heck, we may have even gotten a story out of it! Or not. - A
