Happy Belated Earth Day!

What an incredible weekend in Charlottesville! The weather is finally becoming "Angie-friendly" and everyone is coming out of their shells. The first Fridays After Five concert at the Charlottesville Pavilion was packed. It is so nice to have a free show to see each Friday, and even better now that they have indoor toilets! (Those porta-potty lines were just awful.)
Saturday was another beautiful day, but jam-packed with events. Not only did the Dogwood Festival Parade happen Saturday morning (I drove Miss Eastside Speedway around in the Superhits 102.3 Jeep), but the Charlottesville Marathon and the AIDS Walk were going on at the same time. You would think everyone would space stuff out better, but truly they have no choice. There is so much stuff going on in the upcoming weeks that you just have to fit in stuff when you can.
Saturday night was spent at Outback Steakhouse (always a reliable good meal) with a friend of ours that we haven't seen in quite a while, Lynn Thorne (formerly Lynn Adair from Ch. 29). She and her husband came into town for a brief visit. It is always good to visit with old friends. (Not that she is old. I have just known her for a long time. We women love for that to be clear.)
Sunday was just as wonderful, as it was Earth Day and the Bonnie Raitt concert. Steve and I celebrated Earth Day by planting a rose bush, radishes, and jalapenos and taking pictures of the robin who has built a nest under our deck. We also went to see Miz Bonnie Raitt at the Charlottesville Pavilion, which was a concert to benefit the Ch'ville Free Clinic. I was lucky enough, through my friend Tracy, to go to the pre-concert party where Bonnie was to make an appearance. After hanging out for a while, we thought she wasn't going to show, so we left. As it always happens, she showed up just after we left. While it would have been nice to meet her, we were content to listen to her incredible music at the concert. (I just love "Angel from Montgomery.") Her voice is flawless, and her heart is big. If you EVER have a chance to see her, you don't want to miss it.
I hope your weekend was great, too. I've got some Upcoming Cool Events that I will be posting soon, so make sure to check back! - A
