but inside these heads are devious April foolers! Okay, maybe its just me that is the devious one, but I slowly pulled Jill into my wicked schemes yesterday as we did brunch at St. Maarten's. First, I had to initiate her into the plan by pulling an April Fool's joke on her. After getting her good, she was ready to join me in causing our friends to hate us for brief periods of time. We decided that the phone would be our best method, because our poker faces just aren't that good. Poor Dan, Regan, Steve, Ryan, Scott, and whomever else we called. (If I've forgotten your name here and you received a call from me yesterday, whatever I said was an April Fool's joke.) In between the evil, we did take time to eat and had a lovely brunch. The Huervos Rancheros was excellentos, and Jill said she truly enjoyed the breakfast burrito thingy. Freckles, our server and bartender extraordinaire, is always such a delight. I didn't drink from my mug this time (St. Maarten's has in-house mugs for the regulars.), but I did have a bloody mary, which Freckles will make as spicy as you want it. I like 'em real spicy. I also like my wings spicy, which is why I ate at St. Maarten's on Saturday night, as well. I was jonesing for some wings, and Maarten's has some good flavors for theirs. I played it safe with the Voodoo sauce and Steve had the shrimp diablo. Excellence all around. Not only was the food great both times, but the Conch Republic flag gave me the feeling of being back in Key West. If St. Maarten's Cafe had lounge chairs, it would be darn near perfect!
